Coastal Christian 10, Harrells Christian Academy 8

The Centurions grabbed an early lead by scoring six runs in the bottom of the first inning and they were able to hold on for a league victory.

Connor Radford went 2-for-3 with three RBI and Jacob Mintz was 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run to lead Coastal Christian (6-7, 1-0 Coastal Rivers).

Radford also earned the victory by allowing two runs over 2 2/3 innings before giving way to four relievers. Gable Knight got the final six outs to pick up the save.

West Brunswick 13, St. James, S.C. 3 (6 innings)

The first five batters in the West Brunswick lineup went a combined 14-for-17 with five doubles, 11 RBI and 10 runs in the lopsided home win.

Jennifer Argo and Savannah Branch each finished 4-for-4. Argo doubled twice to go along with two RBI and two runs. Branch scored three times. West Brunswick (10-2) also got two doubles, one walk, four RBI and one run from Gracie Griffin.

Griffin picked up the victory by allowing three runs over four innings before turning the ball over to Morgan Beeler, who struck out five in two shutout innings.

Trask 11, SW Onslow 10

Kailyn Deluca delivered the walk-off hit to give help the Titans sweep the season series and pick up their third win in four games.

Trask (6-8, 5-4 Coastal 8) was led offensively by Jordan Sholar, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI. Madalyn White was 1-for-1 with three walks and four runs.


Coastal Christian 9, Harrells Christian Academy 0

Senior Anna Smith scored four goals, including three in the first 11 minutes, and added an assist in the lopsided home victory.

Ericka Caldropoli, Shea Phipps and Lauren Allen each finished with a goal and an assist. Brooke Allen had the other goal and Elsa Johnson dished out a pair of assists for Coastal Christian (10-4, 3-0 Coastal Rivers).

Goalkeepers Betsy Wheeler and Carson Fuller shared time and combined to make six saves to preserve the shutout.

Topsail 17, South Brunswick 3

Jake Volpe scored five goals and dished out three assists to lead the Pirates to their second victory in as many days.

Fellow senior Eli Copeland also found the back of the net five times and added an assist. Topsail (7-4, 7-4 Mideastern) got a hat trick from Nick Bedson. Konrad Homiak and Cooper Case each scooped up five ground balls.

South Brunswick fell to 1-12 overall and 0-10 in the MEC.


New Hanover 8, Cape Fear Academy 1

The Wildcats capped a perfect regular season with another dominant victory thanks to three-set singles wins from Westley Gaines (7-5, 6-7, 10-4 at No. 2) and John Hewlett West (6-7, 6-1, 10-5 at No. 5).

Griffith Waren cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles and then teamed with Gaines for an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles.¬†New Hanover’s (13-0) other singles victories came from Alan Dimock (6-4, 6-4 at No. 3) and Holland Baynard (6-3, 7-6 at No. 4).

Cape Fear Academy (6-3) got a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles from KJ Kernan.
