New Hanover, Brunswick and Pender counties produce a large number of athletes that continue their careers at the next level.  Each week, this list will feature a number of area athletes who are finding success in the college ranks.

Sr. infielder/pitcher Trey Croom, N.C. Wesleyan (2015 New Hanover grad): Hit his first homer of the season in Saturday’s 4-0 victory over Roger Williams. On Wednesday, Croom went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs, including the winning run in the 10th inning.

Fr. catcher Colby Emmertz, East Tennessee State (2018 Topsail grad): Hit .364 (4-for-11) with one double, one RBI and one run in a pair of contests at Georgia State.

Jr. outfielder Cory Everett, Erskine (2015 New Hanover grad): In four games, Everett went 7-for-16 with one double, two RBI, four runs and one stolen base.

Soph. infielder/outfielder Sam Hall, Clemson (2017 Topsail grad): Helped the Tigers earn a three-game sweep over North Carolina by going 6-for-10 with three doubles, four RBI and five runs over the final two games. He went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run on Wednesday against Coastal Carolina.

Soph. infielder Josh Madole, UNC Greensboro (2017 Topsail grad): Led the Spartans to five wins by hitting .400 (6-for-15) with two stolen bases, four RBI and four runs.

Jr. infielder Brad Pennington, N.C. Wesleyan (2016 Hoggard grad): Tied the game with a two-run pinch hit double in the bottom of the ninth in Wednesday’s game the Battling Bishops eventually won 4-3 in 10 innings.

R-Sr. outfielder Kevon Perkins, UNC Pembroke (2014 North Brunswick grad): Blasted a three-run homer in the eighth inning of Tuesday’s 21-4 victory at Barton.

R-Fr. outfielder Rob Wilkerson, Methodist (2017 Hoggard grad): In four victories, Wilkerson hit .500 (3-for-6) with two walks, one triple, one stolen base, two RBI and five runs.

Sr. utility/pitcher Danny Wilson, UNC Asheville (2015 Topsail grad): Hit .600 (9-for-15) with two walks, two double, one home run, eight RBI and three runs in four games. Wilson was 5-for-5 in Saturday’s 14-9 win at Georgia Southern.

Soph. defender Keegan Santos, Hofstra (2017 New Hanover grad): Scooped up 11 ground balls and caused two turnovers in games against Ohio State and St. John’s.

Sr. attack Jake Trafton, Mars Hill (2015 Hoggard grad): Tied the game at 10 with a goal with 1:53 left in Saturday’s 11-10 comeback win against Walsh. Trafton also scored the team’s first goal to cut the deficit to 6-1 in the third quarter.

Soph. Clint Turbeville, Lynchburg (2017 Coastal Christian grad): Finished 12th in the 1,500-meter run (4:12.42) at Saturday’s UNCW Seahawk Invitational.

Jr. KeAndre Yeoman, UNCW (2016 North Brunswick grad): Placed third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.81 at Saturday’s UNCW Seahawk Invitational.

Soph. infielder Mckenzie Benton, Southeastern CC (2017 West Brunswick grad): In five games, Benton went 10-for-18 with one double two home runs, 11 RBI and three runs.

Sr. infielder Schae Dickson, LIU Brooklyn (2015 Ashley grad): In Friday’s win over Florida A&M, Dickson went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and two runs.

Soph. outfielder Hayley Grizzle, Barton (2017 Topsail grad): In two games against St. Andrews, Grizzle went 3-for-6 with a double, four RBI and a run.

Sr. utility Charlene Thompson, Mount Olive (2015 Laney grad): Hit .333 (6-for-18 with a triple, three RBI, eight runs and five stolen bases in six victories.

Sr. Felecity Havens, Mount Olive (2014 Ashley grad): In the final game of her career, Havens scored 26 points and grabbed nine rebounds. She was the Conference Carolinas Player of the Year for the second straight season.

Soph. Ayonna Cotten, Cape Fear CC (2017 New Hanover grad): Averaged 11 points and 3.7 assists in three Region X Tournament victories to help the Sea Devils punch their ticket to NJCAA Division II National Tournament.

Fr. Anna Moore, York (2018 Hoggard grad): Finished in a tie for sixth after shooting 84-83 at the Adidas Intercollegiate at Dataw Island Club, S.C.

Fr. midfielder Skii Bollinger, St. Andrews (2018 Ashley grad): Had a hat trick and a team-best six ground balls in Saturday’s 9-7 win over Truett-McConnell.

Fr. midfielder/defender Alyssa Cooke, Presbyterian (2018 Hoggard grad): In Friday’s 16-6 win over Delaware State, Cooke scored a goal and dished out a pair of assists.

Soph. midfielder Kendall Goldblum, American (2017 Hoggard grad): In two victories, Goldblum scored four goals to go along with five ground balls and four caused turnovers.

Soph. attack Elizabeth Peasley, Averett (2017 Laney grad): Scored three goals and scooped up nine ground balls in a 15-5 victory over Ferrum on Tuesday.

Soph. Kara Ferner, Christopher Newport (2017 Hoggard grad): Helped the team earn a 5-4 victory over Redlands on Friday by winning 8-3 at No. 3 doubles and 6-2, 7-5 at No. 2 singles.
