Game 1: Kinston Post 43 3, Port City Post 545 1
Tristen Horrell (Laney) and Ali Bunch (Noble MS) each went 2-for-2, but Port City wasn’t able to dig out of an early hole in a battle between the top Area VI teams.
Kinston grabbed a 2-0 lead after the opening inning and never trailed.
Port City (5-2, 5-2) cut the deficit in half in the third inning on a two-out single from Horrell that allowed Cameron Rivenbark (Ashley) to score.
Horrell gave up three runs on four hits and struck out five in the circle.
Game 2: Kinston Post 43 8, Port City Post 545 6
Kinston completed the sweep to build a two-game lead in the Area VI standings.
A four-run top of the second inning put Port City (5-3, 5-3) on top 5-1, but they were unable to hold the lead in large part because of 10 errors.
