Topsail 118, New Hanover 27

Junior Tristen DeLeon and senior Forrest Hoover both picked up four wins and the Pirates captured all 10 events to cruise.

DeLeon’s individual victories came in the 200 IM (2:20.98) and 100 backstroke (1:07.72).

Hoover touched the wall first in the 100 butterfly (55.77) and 100 breaststroke (1:06.23). His butterfly time was the fourth fastest in the area this season.

Topsail’s other individual wins came from Bailey MacVaugh (50 freestyle in 25.13), Ryan King (100 freestyle in 55.95) and Liam McBride (200 freestyle in 2:03.82).

The 200 medley team of DeLeon (backstroke), King (breaststroke), Hoover (butterfly) and Collin Fletcher (freestyle) finished with a time of 1:50.95.

Fletcher, McBride, King and Hoover completed the 200 freestyle relay in 1:40.38.

The meet ended with a victory in the 400 freestyle relay from MacVaugh, DeLeon, McBride and Drew Monical, who had a time of 3:52.31.

The Wildcats opened the meet with a victory in the 200 medley relay before securing wins in six of the seven individual events to narrowly edge the Pirates.

Gabby Hutko (backstroke), Juliet Burroughs (breaststroke), Abby Forbes (butterfly) and Cienna McNamara (freestyle) completed the 200 medley relay in 2:08.33.

Forbes later touched the wall first in the 200 freestyle (2:05.04) and 100 butterfly (1:02.32). Both were the third fastest times in the area this season.

McNamara had a pair of narrow victories in the 200 IM (2:46.13) and 100 backstroke (1:18.86). Both came by less than a second.

Burroughs continued her outstanding freshman season by capturing the 100 freestyle (57.80) and 100 breaststroke (1:17.19).

Topsail got three victories from junior Avery Tabberer. She won the 50 freestyle with a time of 28.95 and also swam the opening leg on the 200 and 400 freestyle relays.

Joining Tabberer on the 200 freestyle relay (2:00.51) were Kylee Barkentin, Irie Liberman and Grace Holmes.

Tabberer, Holmes, Carson Major and Paiton Newbill claimed the 400 freestyle relay in 4:16.28.
