Spring 2021 Girls Tennis Co-Players of the Year: Macy Morrison and Elizabeth Vollmin

***ICYMI: Wrestler of the Year: Mark Samuel***

With several high school sports seasons coming to a close, it’s time to reveal the All-Coastal Preps teams. Over the next week, you will get to know more about the players of the year while also seeing who made first and second team in baseball, girls tennis, track & field and wrestling.

The Coastal Preps Girls Tennis Co-Players of the Year are seniors Macy Morrison and Elizabeth Vollmin from Hoggard.

Macy and Elizabeth’s Accomplishments

Macy Morrison and Elizabeth Vollmin ended their high school tennis careers in the best way imaginable – with a doubles state title.

After winning the 4A East Regional for a second straight season a week earlier, the duo claimed three straight set victories at the 4A State Championship to advance to the finals. In one of the best championship matches in history, Morrison and Vollmin defeated Hough’s Jessica Brannon and Meira Volk by a score of 3-6, 7-6(5), 7-6(4) when Morrison put away a forehand volley.

Morrison and Vollmin finished the season with a 16-1 record and won nine sets without dropping a game. Both players also went 5-2 in singles play to help the Vikings end the season with a 12-2 record.

Vollmin will continue her playing career at Queens University of Charlotte, while Morrison will attend Miami (Ohio).
