Local Athlete/Coaches Q&As: March 28, 2020

During this time of uncertainty, one thing I am certain about is that we have terrific student athletes and coaches in this area.

Over the next few weeks or months, I’m going to spotlight as many of them as I can through online Q&A’s. Any high school or middle school student athlete or coach in Brunswick, New Hanover or Pender counties interested in participating should email me at tim@coastalpreps.com.

Today’s participants are: Trask senior Madi Bryant, New Hanover freshman Aliam Appler, Murray seventh grader Nate Jarrell and Hoggard boys basketball coach Brett Queen.

So far, I would have to say representing North Carolina and Team USA in the International Bowl this January vs. Mexico at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Favorite local Pop Warner memory would have to be the night game in 2014 when my Coastal Cowboys beat the Eagles with less than a minute on the clock for the league championship. We were down by 5, 4th and 12 from our 48. We won on some pretty great catches from my receivers.
