2020-21 Volleyball Player of the Year: Megan Tamisiea

With several high school sports seasons coming to a close, it’s time to reveal the All-Coastal Preps teams. Over the next week, you will get to know more about the players of the year while also seeing who made first and second team in cross country, swimming & diving and volleyball.

The Coastal Preps Volleyball Player of the Year is senior Megan Tamisiea from New Hanover.

Megan’s Accomplishments

With senior outside hitter Megan Tamisiea leading the way, New Hanover went 8-6 and reached the second round of the 3A playoffs.

Tamisiea led the Mideastern Conference in kills with a remarkable 277 in 49 sets (5.7 per set). She hit .341 and also registered 204 digs, 26 aces and 10 blocks.

She recorded 11 double-doubles and put down a season-high 28 kills against Laney on December 18. Tamisiea finished with at least 20 kills in eight contests and at least 20 kills and 20 digs on three occasions.

Tamisiea has yet to announce her college destination, but that decision will be made soon.

Favorite memory from the season: Playing Chapel Hill in the second round of the playoffs. It was a very competitive and high energy match!

Favorite memory from your career: Winning the tournament at my USAV High Performance Program. I was able to play with talented athletes and coaches from all parts of the USA.

Favorite thing about your school or team: Having the “underdog” team label yet still competing with the high-level teams and surprising them.

Favorite vacation you’ve taken: Seeing different parts of New England.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?: Santorini, Greece

Are you a fan of roller coasters? If so, what is the best roller coaster you’ve ridden?: No, I’m scared of them!

What is a skill you are bad at that you wish you could master?: Playing piano or speaking Italian
