2021 Boys Basketball Player of the Year: Greg Bowden

The Coastal Preps Boys Basketball Player of the Year is senior Greg Bowden from Wilmington Christian Academy.

Greg’s Accomplishments

In his final season at Wilmington Christian Academy, Greg Bowden guided his team to a 12-8 record and a berth in the NCCSA 2A quarterfinals.

He averaged a 17.6 points, 11.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists, while shooting 55 percent from the field and 32 percent from 3-point range.

Bowden finished with 10 double-doubles, including a stretch of seven straight in the middle of the season. His best performance came in a 79-76 double overtime victory over eventual state champion Berean Baptist Academy on January 8. 

The 6-foot-4 forward scored a career-high 36 points on 15 of 20 shooting and also added 16 rebounds and four assists. His 3-pointer from the left corner with less than two minutes remaining in double OT put the Patriots up for good.

Bowden is still weighing his college options, but he is hoping to play at the next level.
