2023 Boys Basketball Co-Player of the Year: Myron Mckoy

Now that the winter sports season has come to a close, it’s time to reveal the All-Coastal Preps teams. Over the past few days, you’ve gotten to know more about the players of the year while also seeing who made first and second team in swimming & diving, wrestling and basketball.

The Coastal Preps Boys Basketball Co-Player of the Year is junior Myron Mckoy of Trask.

Myron’s Accomplishments

Junior point guard Myron Mckoy was instrumental in guiding the Trask boys basketball team to one of the best seasons in school history.

Mckoy averaged 18.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 3.4 steals. He also shot 42 percent (183 of 436) from the field and 82 percent (110 of 134) from the free throw line.

The Titans went 24-5 overall and 12-0 in the Waccamaw Conference. They captured the conference tournament title before reaching the third round of the NCHSAA 2A playoffs for the first time since 2016. 

Mckoy reached double figures in all but one game, and he surpassed the 30-point mark on four occasions. He poured in a career-high 39 points in the season-ending loss at Hertford County to surpass 1,000 points for his career.

He finished with at least 10 points, five rebounds and five assists in nine games.
