2023 Boys Basketball Co-Player of the Year: Rodmik Allen
Now that the winter sports season has come to a close, it’s time to reveal the All-Coastal Preps teams. Over the past few days, you’ve gotten to know more about the players of the year while also seeing who made first and second team in swimming & diving, wrestling and basketball.
The Coastal Preps Boys Basketball Co-Player of the Year is sophomore Rodmik Allen from New Hanover.
Rodmik’s Accomplishments
After taking a backseat to a team full of upperclassmen as a freshman, point guard Rodmik Allen became the leader of the New Hanover boys basketball team during the 2022-23 season.
Allen was spectacular as a sophomore, averaging 13.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 3.1 steals all while shooting 42 percent (157 of 370) from the field.
The Wildcats finished a perfect 14-0 in the Mideastern Conference and claimed the tournament title for the second year in a row.
New Hanover went on to reach the fourth round of the playoffs for the first time since 2018 and ended with a 26-3 overall record.
Allen surpassed the 15-point mark on 14 occasions, including a career-high 27 against South Brunswick in the first round of the MEC Tournament. He only played four minutes in the second half because the game was out of reach.
He finished with at least three assists, three rebounds and three steals in six contests.
