2021 Boys Soccer Defensive Player of the Year: Andy McCague
The Coastal Preps Boys Soccer Defensive Player of the Year is senior Andy McCague from New Hanover.
Andy’s Accomplishments
Senior Andy McCague was the anchor of one of the state’s best defenses.
New Hanover allowed only 18 goals in 28 games en route to the first state title in school history. The unit also had 15 shutouts, including four in six playoff matches.
In addition to being a shutout defender, McCague also contributed on the offensive end. He scored four goals and dished out six assists, including one in the 3-0 victory over Hough in the 4A state championship match.
