GIRLS BASKETBALL

No. 10 Coastal Christian 52, Hilltop Christian 36

The Centurions jumped out to an 8-0 lead and continued to pull away thanks to a 29-point performance from guard DK Britt.

The senior made three 3-pointers and went 10 of 13 from the line. She had eight points in the opening quarter to give Coastal Christian (9-13) a 13-2 lead. 

Bryna Barton added eight points and Brooke Allen chipped in six for the Centurions, who scored 15 points in each of the final two quarters.

Coastal Christian travels to Fayetteville Academy on Friday night at 5:30.

No. 13 Wilmington Christian Academy 35, Liberty Christian Academy 29

Freshman Katelyn McCurry scored a team-high 12 points to lift the Patriots.

WCA (6-12) will try to pick up a second straight road victory when it travels to Bethel Christian Academy on Friday at 6 p.m. The Patriots are trying to sweep the season series. They won 35-32 in the first meeting on Jan. 18.

BOYS BASKETBALL

No. 4 Coastal Christian 56, Hilltop Christian 34

David Berne and Colin Kitts combined for 30 points to guide the Centurions to a home victory.

Coastal Christian (15-8) built a 27-18 halftime lead.  

The Centurions used a 14-0 run in the third quarter to extend its advantage to 41-20. Berne led all scorers with 16 points, while Kitts finished with 14.

Will Morgan chipped in seven points. Josh Robertson and Vince Bottiglier both chipped in five points.

Next up for Coastal Christian is a road game at Fayetteville Academy at 7 p.m. Friday.

No. 13 Wilmington Christian Academy 68, Liberty Christian Academy 47

Ten Patriots reached the scoring column and three finished in double figures in the 21-point road victory.

CJ Gall led WCA (8-12) with 15 points, while Trey Pierce added 13. Tiruneh Giammarino chipped in 10 points.

The Patriots trailed 26-24 at halftime before exploding for 44 points over the final 16 minutes.

Ryan Donaldson scored seven points for WCA, which hosts Bethel Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. Friday. 

No. 12 Pender 55, West Columbus 53

The Patriots earned a huge road win to move ahead of the Vikings in the Waccamaw Conference standings.

Only one 1A team from the league is guaranteed a playoff berth.

Pender is currently 6-8 overall and 4-3 in the Waccamaw. West Columbus is 11-6 and 3-3, while East Columbus is 5-13 and 1-5.

No individual stats were provided. The Patriots host East Columbus on Friday night at 7:30.
