GIRLS BASKETBALL

Hoggard 63, North Brunswick 18

After a bit of a sluggish start, the Vikings got rolling and remained unbeaten with a lopsided road victory.

Icess Tresvik led the way with 20 points, five rebounds and four steals. Lacy Lovitt chipped in 16 points and Lexi Steed also reached double figures with 10 points.

Hoggard (3-0) held a 14-6 lead after the opening quarter, but pulled away by outscoring North Brunswick (0-2) 41-8 over the middle two quarters.

Laney Scoggins led the Scorpions with eight points. 

Hoggard visits South Brunswick on Friday at 5 p.m., while North Brunswick plays at Topsail on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

BOYS SWIMMING

South Brunswick 86, New Hanover 47

Patrick Boldt, Belvin Barker, Chance Mason and Thomas Overton secured a victory in the 200 medley by finishing in 2:04.14 and all four also had an individual win to help the Cougars top the Wildcats.

Boldt won the 100 backstroke (1:21.31), Barker claimed the 200 IM (2:51.96), Mason was victorious in the 100 butterfly (1:15.01) and Overton touched the wall first in the 50 freestyle (27.48).

South Brunswick also got a win from Andrew Sherrod in the 200 freestyle (2:40.64).

The relay team of George Turner, Ben Colins, Cole Serens and Ryan Monteith picked up two wins for New Hanover. They finished the 200 freestyle in 14:52.35 and the 400 freestyle in 4:10.00.

Monteith was also victorious in the 500 freestyle (6:07.29) and 100 breaststroke (1:17.02), while Serens won the 100 freestyle in 59.62.

GIRLS SWIMMING

New Hanover 89, South Brunswick 62

New Hanover freshman standout Abby Forbes was the lone participant to earn four victories and the Wildcats claimed seven of the 10 events to win the meet.

Forbes touched the wall first in the 200 freestyle (2:06.22) and 100 butterfly (1:03.17). She was joined by Cienna McNamara, Peyton Neathery and Estelle Monteith on the 200 medley relay (2:08.99).

Neathery, Elizabeth Elder and Sophia Kaczynski teamed up with Forbes on the 400 freestyle relay (4:16.31). The 200 freestyle relay team of Kaczynski, McNamara, Monteith and Maisy Yopp touched the wall in 2:02.68.

Kaczynski claimed the 100 freestyle in 1:05.09 and Neathery captured the 200 IM in 2:36.45.

South Brunswick’s wins came from Aubrey Sherrod (50 freestyle in 30.26), Liz Boldt (100 backstroke in 1:08.17) and Hannah Overton (100 breaststroke in 1:32.41).
