The Hurricanes overcame a tough shooting night to knock off their rival in a low-scoring game.

CFA (11-3, 1-0 Coastal Rivers) was 1 of 17 from 3-point range before senior Caden Bariglio connected on an important one from the top of the key with just over five minutes remaining to increase the lead to 29-24.

A few possessions later, Jack McErlean drained a shot from beyond the arc to put the home team up six points. McErlean sealed the victory by going 4-for-5 from the free throw line in the final 45 seconds.

Both teams had a lot of trouble getting the ball through the basket.

CFA shot 33 percent (14 of 43) from the field and a woeful 14 percent (3 of 21) from 3-point range. After committing seven turnovers in the opening quarter, they took better control of the ball and finished with just 12.

Coastal Christian (12-7, 2-1) built an 8-4 lead late in the first quarter following back-to-back layups from Aidan Davies, but they managed only 20 points over the final 26 minutes.
