Sophomore Saul Juarez-Salgado came off the bench and immediately scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal in the 38th minute off an assist from Sam McNamara to send the Vikings into the fourth round for the first time since 2017.

“He’s been our million dollar sub,” Hoggard coach Dwight Findlay said. “He does a great job every time he gets in.”

The Vikings (17-5) got an insurance goal from senior Miller Cox off an assist from Brady Hoffacker in the 77th minute. Goalkeeper Aidan Sokolinsky had another impressive showing to earn the clean sheet and the defense was also instrumental in shutting down the Imps, who entered averaging 4.2 goals per game.

“It was a great game and the boys played really well,” Findlay said. “The back line really stepped up. Brady did a fantastic job keeping everybody in place.

“They had some good opportunities and Aidan made a point-blank save off a cross that was really big. He did a fantastic job with a reflex action and pushed it over the top.”
