The Patriots ran their winning streak to six with a dominant home victory that featured a hat trick from Bryce Bordeaux.

Derek Poe scored twice and assisted on the final goal of the contest. WCA (9-6) also got an early goal from Hayden Plotner to grab the lead for good.

Next up for the Patriots is a home match against Bethel Christian Academy on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Coastal Christian 4, Cape Fear Academy 1

Jackson Snyder converted a penalty kick in the 14th minute to give the Centurions a lead they would never relinquished in a home victory that wrapped up the Coastal Rivers Conference title.

Brian Cooke doubled the lead with a header in the 19th minute and Tafari Croom had a pair of late goals (72nd and 75th minutes) for Coastal Christian (14-2-2, 5-0 Coastal Rivers).

Cape Fear Academy’s (5-7-2, 2-2) lone goal came from Tommy Morton in the 30th minute.

The Centurions play at Topsail on Monday night at 6:30 p.m., while CFA is home against Fayetteville Academy on Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Laney 6, Topsail 0

Lucas Neal scored in the 15th and 19th minutes and the Buccaneers tacked on four more goals to cruise to a home win.

Laney (7-7, 4-2 Mideastern), which travels to Ashley at 6 p.m. Tuesday, also got a goal a piece from Tyler Bloodworth (25th minute), Trey Parker (31st), Nick Bennett (49th) and Stephen Amigo on a penalty kick in the 72nd minute.

Luke Mueller and TJ Webb each saw action in net to split the clean sheet.

Topsail (2-7, 1-5) got seven saves, including a penalty kick, from goalkeeper Alex Hornthal. Andrew Benenhaley had four saves in the opening half. The Pirates visit North Brunswick on Tuesday night at 6.

New Hanover 6, North Brunswick 0

Sophomore Charlie Letson had a tremendous performance, putting home the first two goals and then assisting on three others in the lopsided victory.

New Hanover’s (8-3-3, 5-1 Mideastern) second half goals came from Chase Schardt, Andy McCague, Tenneyson Wnek and Aiden Payne. Wnek and Landon James each had an assist.

Goalkeepers Bennett Jones and Devon Gamble shared the clean sheet.

The Wildcats travel to Hoggard on Tuesday night at 6, while North Brunswick (5-4-3, 2-4) hosts Topsail at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The Screaming Eagles completed the season sweep and improved to 16-1 overall and 8-1 in Mideastern Conference play.

Melia Bordeaux had a double-double with 12 assists and 10 digs to lead North Brunswick (1-16, 0-9). Haley Potter put down a team-best four kills to go along with three aces, one block and one dig and Jayda Rascoe finished with 16 digs and two kills.

Next up for Ashley is a road match at Coastal Christian on Friday at 6 p.m. The Scorpions play at Cape Fear Academy at 4:30 p.m. Monday.

Topsail 3, South Brunswick 0

(25-15, 25-10, 25-23)

Senior middle hitter Gia Marinelli had a team-best nine kills to go along with five aces, five blocks and four digs to help the Pirates roll.

Madison Lofton hit .429 with seven kills on 14 swings with only one error and also had 14 digs. Topsail (12-3, 7-3), which travels to Ashley on Tuesday at 6 p.m., also got 26 digs from Aiden McGuire as well as 20 assists, two aces and two kills from Julia Sullivan.

South Brunswick (5-9, 3-7) hosts New Hanover at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Hoggard 3, West Brunswick 0

(25-19, 25-16, 25-16)

The Vikings hit .388 as a team by putting down 28 kills on 67 attempts with only three errors in the road victory.

Ayla Johnson led the way with nine kills, while Tamsie Black, Olivia Britt, Gracie Sistrunk and Kaitlyn Hamilton each had four.

Hoggard (11-4, 9-1 Mideastern), which hosts Leesville Road on Saturday at 2 p.m., served 11 aces and got a total of 30 digs from 12 players. Tara Samtmann had 11 assists and Zoe Lee finished with six.

West Brunswick (3-13, 1-8) plays at North Brunswick on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

New Hanover 3, Laney 0

(25-12, 25-19, 25-22)

The Wildcats picked up their third straight victory and completed the season sweep over the Buccaneers.

New Hanover (11-8, 7-3 Mideastern) is back in action at Brodgen Hall on Friday night at 6 against New Bern.

Jamie Wurtzbacher finished with five kills, four digs and three blocks to lead Laney (6-6, 4-6), which hosts Coastal Christian on Monday night at 6.

Reagan Russ dished out 17 assists and added seven digs, while Jayna McCotter and Mack Murnane each had nine digs. Daija Young had a big night at the net, registering 11 blocks.

Coastal Christian 3, Cape Fear Academy 0

(25-8, 25-5, 25-8)

Sadie Luscher and Mallorie Moore each finished with six kills and six aces and the Centurions cruised past their rival.

Anna Dudley Wethereill put down a team-best nine kills and also added six aces and six digs. Coastal Christian (17-5, 4-0 Coastal Rivers) also got 28 assists, three aces and two kills from Kora Beth Witzenman as well as five kills, three digs and a pair of aces from Kelly McConekey. Cassie Crisp chipped in four kills and three blocks.

The Centurions are home against Ashley on Friday night at 6. CFA (2-12, 1-3 Coastal Rivers) welcomes North Brunswick on Monday at 4:30 p.m.

GIRLS GOLF

Cape Fear Academy tops Laney in 9-hole match

Senior Furman commit Caroline Crumrine shot a 1-over-par 37 to help the Hurricanes beat Laney by 20 strokes in a nonconference match on the Pine Course at The Country Club of Landfall.

CFA also got a 39 from Ellie Burnette and a 44 from fellow freshman Isabel Bellamy to finish with a team score of 140.

Grace Holcomb led Laney with a 39, while Haley Goldberg shot a 48 and Amber Butner carded a 55.

GIRLS TENNIS

New Hanover 9, Laney 0

Peyton Philemon (No. 1) and Mary Davis Thompson (No. 2) both won their singles matches 6-0, 6-0 and the Wildcats dropped only two games in doubles to remain unbeaten.

The other singles winners for New Hanover (17-0, 13-0 Mideastern) were: Frances Coleman (6-0, 6-2 at No. 3), Mary Archer Boyd (6-2, 6-1 at No. 4), Sara Frances Coleman (6-0, 6-2 at No. 5) and Ann McBryde Barker (6-4, 6-3 at No. 6).

Thompson and Butler won 8-0 at No. 1 doubles. Philemon and Coleman (No. 1) and Boyd and Barker (No. 3) each picked up 8-1 victories.

The Wildcats conclude the regular season at South Brunswick on Tuesday at 4 p.m. Laney (9-4, 9-4 Mideastern) plays at Hoggard at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Topsail 9, South Brunswick 0

The Pirates got 8-0 singles victories from Kylee Edwards (No. 1), Marci LaRowe (No. 2), Summer Guderian (No. 3) and Amanda O’Brien (No. 5).

Abrielle Herbert lost only one game at No. 6 and Anna Duckworth picked up an 8-3 victory at No. 4.

In doubles, Topsail (8-5, 8-5) got an 8-0 win at No. 2 from Guderian and O’Brien. Herbert and Grace Breeden teamed for an 8-2 victory at No. 3 and LaRowe and Duckworth won 8-3 at No. 1.

The Pirates play at Ashley on Tuesday at 4 p.m., while South Brunswick (8-9, 6-6) hosts Hoggard on Monday at 4 p.m.

Hoggard 9, West Brunswick 0

After claiming all six singles courts, the Vikings won all three doubles courts and lost only two games in the process.

Hoggard (11-2, 10-2 Mideastern) got an 8-0 victory at No. 3 doubles from Chloe Bright and Mary Westendorff. Darcey Britt and Margaret O’Malley (No. 1) and Megan Corrigan and Zoe Wilcox (No. 2) each won 8-1.

Corrigan won 8-0 at No. 3 singles, while O’Malley (No. 2) and Westendorff (No. 6) both won 8-1. The Vikings also got victories from Britt (8-3 at No. 1), Wilcox (8-2 at No. 4) and Bright (8-2 at No. 5).

Next up for Hoggard is a road match at South Brunswick on Monday at 4 p.m. West Brunswick (1-12, 1-12) plays at North Brunswick at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Cape Fear Academy 9, Coastal Christian 0

The Hurricanes had no trouble downing their rival, dropping only seven games in singles and five in doubles.

Laura Kate Lindstrom won 8-0 at No. 6 singles and Julia Johnston (No. 2), Maya Arora (No. 4) and Caroline Morrison (No. 5) each lost only one game. CFA (7-4, 4-0 Coastal Rivers) also got 8-2 victories from Lacey Kleppinger at No. 1 and Lucy Dimock at No. 3.

In doubles, Morrison teamed with Chloe Kernan for an 8-1 win at No. 2 and Johnston and Dimock won by the same score at No. 3. Kleppinger and Arora picked up an 8-3 victory at No. 1.

The Hurricanes play at Arendell Parrott Academy on Monday at 3:30 p.m. Coastal Christian (9-5, 2-2) hosts Harrells Christian Academy at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
