Coastal Christian 3, Asheville Christian 1

(16-25, 27-25, 25-10, 25-16)

Junior Kora Beth Witzenman had a triple-double with 24 assists, 16 kills, 10 digs and two blocks and the Centurions prevailed after dropping the opening set.

Kelly McConekey finished with 15 kills and 19 digs for a double-double, while Emma Anderson put down 11 kills and added seven digs.

After failing to convert its first two set points in the second set, Coastal Christian (5-2) finally evened the match on an overpass kill from Anderson. 

In the final set, the Centurions fell behind 10-6 before going on a 10-0 run that included five kills from McConekey. Witzenman ended the match with a kill.

Coastal Christian (5-2) also got 26 assists and four digs from Maris Grant as well as 22 digs from libero Hannah Bloodworth.

Middle blockers Mallorie Moore (seven kills, four digs and four aces) and Lydia Pate (three kills, four digs, three aces and five blocks) also had solid performances. 

Caldwell Academy 3, Coastal Christian 0

(25-21, 25-16, 25-17)

The Centurions weren’t able to complete the tri-match sweep, falling in straight sets to unbeaten Caldwell Academy.

Kelly McConekey led the way with team highs in kills (seven) and digs (21). Lydia Pate put down six kills to go along with five aces, two digs and two blocks, while Kora Beth Witzenman finished with 10 assists, nine digs, three kills and two blocks.

Next up for Coastal Christian (5-3) is a road match against Cape Fear Academy on Tuesday at 5:45 p.m.
