Laney junior Grace Holcomb continued her stellar play by earning medalist honors for the second straight match after shooting an 83.

Topsail finished with a team score of 277 to defeat the Buccaneers by 10 strokes. The Pirates got an 89 from Eliza Fogleman, a 92 from Jessica Townsend and a 96 from Lindley Cox.

Regan Creasy (94) of Laney and Ashley’s Livy Tran (95) rounded out the top five.

Hoggard finished third as a team with a score of 331. They were followed by South Brunswick (333), Ashley (361), West Brunswick (379), New Hanover (407) and North Brunswick (415).

Coastal Christian 3, Carolina Forest (S.C.) 0

(25-15, 25-20, 25-22)

A double-double of 14 digs, 12 kills and three aces from senior Anna Dudley Wetherill as well as 30 assists, nine digs, three kills and two blocks from Kora Beth Witzenman lifted the Centurions to the victory.

Coastal Christian (13-4) also got a solid performance from Mallorie Moore, who finished with seven digs, six aces, five kills and three blocks. Kelly McConekey added nine digs and seven kills and Autumn Montague had 17 digs. Sadie Luscher put down six kills to go along with two aces and two digs.

The Centurions are back in action on Wednesday at 5:15 p.m. at Harrell Christian Academy.

Wilmington Christian Academy 3, Faith Christian Academy 0

(25-2, 25-8, 25-12)

Kat Davis had a double-double with 17 assists and 13 aces and Kyra Rickard put down a team-high eight kills to go along with two blocks in the dominant win.

WCA (14-7, 3-0) also got five aces, five digs and two assists from Paige O’Shields as well as seven aces from Madison Sullivan. Kenleigh Todd and Sam Malpass each put down five kills and Emily Mullinax finished with four.

The Patriots host Greenville Christian Academy on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

Laney 3, West Brunswick 1

(25-19, 25-12, 25-27, 25-18)

Jordan Juanes put down a team-high 10 kills to go along with 20 digs, two blocks and two aces to help the Buccaneers pick up the win.

Laney (5-3, 3-3 Mideastern) served 16 aces, including seven from freshman Mack Murnane and four from Jayna Mccotter. Daija Young had seven of the team’s 14 blocks and Reagan Russ had a double-double with 23 assists and 20 digs.

The Buccaneers host Ashley on Tuesday at 6 p.m., while West Brunswick (3-8, 1-4 Mideastern) travels to South Brunswick at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Ashley 4, Coastal Christian 4

The Centurions built a 3-0 lead late in the first half and then led 4-3 with 18 minutes to play, but Ashley battled back to earn the draw.

Coastal Christian (10-2-2) built its big lead thanks to goals from Luke Ward (sixth minute), Tafari Croom (30th minute) and Caleb Huneycutt (31st minute). Jackson Snyder put the visitors back on top late with an unassisted goal before Ashley (3-3-3) evened the score on John Jernigan’s goal in the 74th minute.

The Screaming Eagles also got two goals from Jared Becken and one from Keegan Peat.

Croom had a pair of assists and goalkeeper Chase Godwin made 10 saves for the Centurions, who play at Harrells Christian Academy on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Ashley plays at Topsail on Tuesday night at 6 p.m.

Trask 4, East Carteret 2

Justin Eaves had a hat trick and an assist to help the Titans go on the road and pick up a victory.

Trask’s (5-6, 2-1 Coastal 8) other goal was scored by Tyler Still. Goalkeeper Eduardo Gomez made five saves. The Titans are back in action Wednesday night at 6 at Croatan.

GIRLS TENNIS

Laney 5, Topsail 4

Laney’s Sophie Kosterman and Caroline Warshaw teamed for a 9-8(4) victory at No. 3 doubles to secure the match win for the Buccaneers.

The teams split six singles courts with the both teams earning a three-set win. The Buccaneers (6-2, 6-2 Mideastern) got victories from Airlie Buchter (6-3, 6-1 at No. 3), Campbell Atterbury (6-1, 6-0 at No. 4) and Kosterman (2-6, 6-1, 10-8 at No. 4).

Olivia Swivel and Lillian Hewitt paired up for an 8-5 victory at No. 2 doubles.

Topsail’s (5-4, 5-4) singles wins came from Kylee Edwards (6-0, 6-3 at No. 1), Marci LaRowe (6-1, 3-6, 12-10 at No. 2) and Abrielle Herbert (6-2, 6-2 at No. 6). LaRowe and Anna Duckworth picked up an 8-6 victory at No. 1 doubles.

Laney hosts Ashley on Tuesday at 4 p.m., while Topsail hosts North Brunswick at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Hoggard 9, Ashley 0

The Vikings lost only six games in singles and six in doubles to cruise to a home victory.

Emily Cox won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4, while Darcey Britt (No. 1) Margaret O’Malley (No. 3) and Mary Westendorff (No. 6) each dropped only one game. Hoggard (8-1, 7-1 Mideastern) also got singles victories from Megan Corrigan (6-0, 1-0 ret. at No. 2), Zoe Wilcox (6-0, 6-3 at No. 5).

In doubles, Britt and Corrigan teamed for an 8-1 win at No. 1 and O’Malley and Cox picked up an 8-2 victory at No. 2. Wilcox and Chloe Bright completed the sweep by winning 8-3 at No. 3.

Hoggard plays at New Hanover on Tuesday at 4 p.m. Ashley (1-9, 1-7) travels to Laney on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Coastal Christian 8, South Brunswick 1

The Centurions completed the season sweep by winning five singles matches and claiming all three doubles courts.

Liz Kramer won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 singles and Grace Meehan earned a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 5 to lead Coastal Christian (6-4). Also winning in singles for the Centurions were: Maya Insley (6-2, 6-2 at No. 2), Brooke Barton (6-1, 6-4 at No. 3) and Blair Lefler (6-4, 6-4 at No. 6).

Lefler and Sophia Southerland teamed for an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles. Insley and Barton won 8-4 at No. 1 and Kramer and Meehan completed the sweep with an 8-6 victory at No. 2.

South Brunswick (6-7) got a 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 victory at No. 1 singles from Marissa Smart.

The Centurions play at Harrells Christian Academy on Wednesday at 4 p.m. South Brunswick hosts West Brunswick at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
