Local Athlete/Coaches Q&As: April 3, 2020
During this time of uncertainty, one thing I am certain about is that we have terrific student athletes and coaches in this area.
Over the next few weeks or months, I’m going to spotlight as many of them as I can through online Q&A’s. Any high school or middle school student athlete or coach in Brunswick, New Hanover or Pender counties interested in participating should email me at tim@coastalpreps.com.

What sport(s) do you participate in at your school? Cross country and track & field
If you have committed or signed with a college, where will you be continuing your career and why did you choose that school? UNCW. I loved the team and overall environment of the school. It was the best fit for me.
What is your favorite food? Tacos
What is your favorite restaurant? The Little Dipper
What is your favorite movie? The Avengers series. Couldn’t pick just one.
What is your favorite TV show? Friends
Who are your favorite teams (college or professional)? N.C. State and the U.S. Women’s National Team
Who is your favorite athlete? Conor McGregor
What is your favorite memory from your career? Setting a new school record and placing second in the 4×800 relay to qualify for states with my team.
Do you have any superstitions or pre-race rituals? When I’m on the starting line I do a set of stretches/warmups to get ready and then my team always does “hand hugs.”
What hobbies do you have outside of participating in sports? Cooking and traveling. I love to cook and if I do not pursue a career in film I’d love to be a nutritionist or dietitian.
What app on your phone do you use the most? TikTok
What is your dream job? To be in film as a stunt woman or editor.

If you could have dinner with any 3 people (dead or alive), who would they be? Conor McGregor, Kylie Jenner and Beyonce
How are you passing the time during this time of social distancing? Running and cooking
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? Thailand. The beaches are so amazing.

How are you passing the time during this time of social distancing? Homework, practicing and working out
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? Greece

Who is your favorite athlete? Petr Cech, Roger Federer and Dominic Thiem
What is your favorite memory from your career? For soccer, when my NCFC Gold team ended with a No. 1 ranking in the state and No. 7 ranking in the US. For tennis, winning an L4 tournament at Landfall in a four-hour match in a tight tiebreaker.
Do you have any superstitions or pre-game rituals? I don’t like odd numbers on my tennis balls. I will switch them out.
What hobbies do you have outside of participating in sports? Piano, Speech and Debate, Civil Air Patrol, Science Olympiad, ukulele, ping pong and crazy amounts of traveling all over the world with my family.

What is your dream job? Pilot or doctor

If you could have dinner with any 3 people (dead or alive), who would they be? Captain Chelsey Sullenberger, Ben Carson and and Jesus
How are you passing the time during this time of social distancing? Golf and tennis and private goalkeeper training 1 vs. 1 with my dad.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? We have traveled a lot, but I really want to go to Tokyo.
If you could only listen to one song the rest of your life, what would it be? Escape (The Pina Colada Song) by Rupert Holmes
Which local restaurant has the best burgers? We do not eat beef, but the turkey burger and veggie burger at Burger King are pretty good and the Holiday Inn at the beach.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? Rome, Italy. I’ve always wanted to see the Colosseum, Pantheon, etc.
If you could only listen to one song the rest of your life, what would it be? Can’t Be Touched- Roy Jones Jr. I guess if I had to hear one song the rest of my life, I’d want/need it to be as motivational as possible.
