Local Athlete/Coaches Q&As: April 5, 2020
During this time of uncertainty, one thing I am certain about is that we have terrific student athletes and coaches in this area.
Over the next few weeks or months, I’m going to spotlight as many of them as I can through online Q&A’s. Any high school or middle school student athlete or coach in Brunswick, New Hanover or Pender counties interested in participating should email me at tim@coastalpreps.com.

What sport(s) do you participate in at your school? Softball
If you have committed or signed with a college, where will you be continuing your career and why did you choose that school? William Peace University. I choose William Peace because I loved how small the school was, the proximity to home and the softball coach is awesome!!
What is your favorite food? Steak
What is your favorite restaurant? Hiro Japanese Steakhouse
What is your favorite movie? The Benchwarmers
What is your favorite TV show? Supernatural
Who are your favorite teams (college or professional)? Alabama and Dallas Cowboys
Who is your favorite athlete? Haylie McCleney
What is your favorite memory from your career? Back-to-back walk-offs. One to help send my team to the state championship and one to help secure a win in the championship.
Do you have any superstitions or pre-game rituals? Listening to the same songs before every game.
What hobbies do you have outside of participating in sports? Being outdoors

How are you passing the time during this time of social distancing? Binge watching shows on Netflix.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? Bahamas

What is your favorite memory from your career? My favorite memory from my tennis career was going to the U.S. Open last year with One Love Tennis and getting the chance to hit on the court in Arthur Ashe stadium. My favorite memory from my basketball career was getting to shoot free throws with Tyler Zeller at the ACC Barnstorming Tour.
What hobbies do you have outside of participating in sports? I like to read, memorize scripture, spend time with my family and friends, and make desserts.
What is your dream job? To be a professional athlete or a spy.

If you could have dinner with any 3 people (dead or alive), who would they be? Jesus, George Washington and Tim Tebow.
How are you passing the time during this time of social distancing? I have been doing yard work and practicing sports (as much as I can under the circumstances).
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? I would go on a tour of Europe.
If you could only listen to one song the rest of your life, what would it be? There is no song that I would want to listen to for the rest of my life!

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? Dominican Republic!! Beautiful place and breeding grounds of prospective exchange students who play baseball! Haha.
If you could only listen to one song the rest of your life, what would it be? Happy Birthday! Obvious reasons.

What is your favorite Disney movie? Hmm, I guess Empire Strikes Back was technically 20th Century Fox, but since Disney now owns it, can I use it? If not, I’ll go with Aladdin.
What is a skill you are bad at that you wish you could master? Backing up a trailer!
What was the first car you owned? First car that was “mine” was a 1988 Nissan Sentra (5-speed). First car I owned was a Toyota Tacoma in 2000.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? “Do or do not. There is no try.”
