BOYS LACROSSE

Anthony Blackburn led the way with five goals and Cooper Wert finished with a hat trick in the dominant home victory.

Murray (2-0) built a 7-2 halftime lead before adding five more goals over the final 20 minutes. Peyton Ashley scored twice, while Grady Donaton and Zach Stalls also found the back of the net.

Jonathan Bernardo and Clark Marriot split time in the cage.

The loss drops Roland-Grise to 1-2 on the season.

Noble 10, Myrtle Grove 1

Finn Carlstedt had a hat trick and two assists in another dominant victory for the Eagles.

Noble (3-0) has outscored its first three opponents 23-5. Hutch Melind also finished with three goals and one assist, while Jackson Burgee found the back of the net twice.

Gates Vaughan finished with one goal and one assist and Noah Oborne had the other goal. 

Myrtle Grove is now 1-1.

Trask 6, Willison 3

After suffering back-to-back losses to open the season, the Bears finally got in the win column.

No individual stats for Trask (1-2) were provided.

Williston fell to 0-1.

Goalie Makenly Horrell stopped all five shots she faced to earn the shutout and give the Bears their first victory of the season.

Layla Carr led the offense with four goals, while Tristan Shivers added three goals and one assist. 

Trask (1-1) also got two goals and two assists from Julia Campbell as well as two goals and one assist a piece from Avery Lyden and Harper Hicks.

Avery Hoey and Jayden Peterson both finished with one goal and two assists. Olivia Wilson, Sophia Bush and Maaike Shaw each found the back of the net once.

Williston is now 0-1 on the season.

Noble 11, Myrtle Grove 3

The Eagles scored early and often to secure the season-opening home victory.

No individual stats were provided.

Myrtle Grove fell to 0-2 with the loss.

Murray 16, Roland-Grise 5

Palyn Everhart and Kieren Bradley each scored seven goals and the Falcons had no trouble remaining unbeaten.

Everhart also added seven ground balls and one assist. Kendall Blackburn chipped in two goals and three assists. Murray (2-0) also got one assist from Ella Watkins. 

Goaltender Rylan Harris finished with seven saves.

Roland-Grise (0-2) got a pair of goals from Macey Ciamillo. Sophie T. Solomon, Helen Brock and Sloane Spencer also put home one goal.

Myrtle Grove 10, Willison 1

Myrtle Grove secured its first victory of the season in dominant fashion at home.

No individual stats for the Gators (1-2)  were provided.

Sixth grader Pearl Vasquez scored Williston’s (0-2) lone goal.

BASEBALL

Murray 6, Trask 5

The Falcons pounded out 12 hits and scored twice in the top of the sixth inning to open the season with a victory.

Mike Swick, Nate Goins, Tanner Berry, Will Hartzell and Coleman Cross all collected two hits. Goins and Hartzell also scored a pair of runs. Grayson Heldreth had a double and two RBI.

Murray (1-0) starting pitcher Hudson Hauck pitched 4 2/3 innings and struck out eight, but didn’t factor into the decision. Goins picked up the victory after 1 1/3 hitless innings.

Lukas Malek led Trask (0-1) with two hits and a stolen base. Hudson Stokes ripped a double and drove in a pair of runs. Davis Hinshaw and Jackson Noon each had an RBI.

Noble 5, Roland-Grise 1

Jason Sproull and Tate Nelson combined on a 1-hitter with four strikeouts and the Eagles picked up a season-opening road win.

Alan Studebaker led the offense by going 2-for-3 with a walk, triple, three RBI and one run scored. Tate Nelson was 1-for-2 with two walks and a run, while Sproull finished 2-for-3 with a walk, double and two runs for Noble (1-0).

Roland-Grise fell to 0-1.

Myrtle Grove 11, Holly Shelter 1

Cole Barnes pitched a complete-game and allowed only one hit as the Gators opened the season with a dominant victory.

Holly Shelter is now 0-1.

Claire Johnson served 10 aces to help the Gators begin the season with a road win.

Myrtle Grove (1-0) also got four aces a piece from Kate Johnson and Ainsley Bell. Addyson Barberich put down two kills, while Evy Rennecker and Claire Johnson each had one. Rennecker also led the team in passing.

The loss dropped Holly Shelter to 0-1.

Roland-Grise 2, Noble 0 (25-18, 25-18)

Payton Jones led the Knights in aces and was one of the team leaders in kills.

Brooke Wood also put down several kills, while Georgia Britt and Baylor Everett led Roland-Grise (1-0) in assists. 

With the loss, Noble fell to 0-1.
