Spot A Star is a list of the top individual performances of the week. Coaches are encourages to submit the names of their athletes who excelled on the field, court or course by 7 p.m. every Sunday. The list will be published each Monday.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Jackson Metty, North Brunswick: Ran a personal record 19:07.24 to finish a career-best 11th at the Wallace Park Classic on Thursday afternoon.

BOYS SOCCER

Nick Bennett, Laney: Continued his stellar play by finding the back of the net five times in three matches, including a hat trick in Thursday’s 3-1 win at North Brunswick.

Brooks Carpenter, Hoggard: Finished the week with two goals and one assist to lead the Vikings to a pair of shutout Mideastern Conference victories.

Miller Cox, Hoggard: Senior leader put home a pair of goals and added an assist in Thursday’s 7-0 home win over Topsail. Cox leads the team with six goals in eight contests.

Davidson Good, Southeastern Homeschool: Freshman goalkeeper finished with 10 saves to help the Cardinals battle to a 1-1 draw at Harrells Christian Academy on Monday.

Matthew Iandoli, Southeastern Homeschool: Had a strong defensive effort in Monday’s 1-1 draw against Harrells Christian Academy.

Landon James, New Hanover: Put home the game-winning goal in overtime to help the Wildcats earn a 3-2 comeback victory over Laney on Tuesday night at Legion Stadium.

Aidan Payne, New Hanover: Sophomore forward scored a goal in Tuesday’s victory over Laney and had a goal and an assist in Thursday’s 4-0 victory at West Brunswick.

TJ Webb, Laney: Freshman goalkepeer had four saves to earn his first career victory over North Brunswick on Thursday.

FOOTBALL

Jaylen Allen, Hoggard: Sealed Friday’s 15-10 win over Purnell Swett with a late interception.

Brady DeHaas, Hoggard: Ran for 247 yards on 34 carries and a pair of touchdowns to lead the Vikings to a 15-10 home victory over Purnell Swett on Friday.

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

Rachel Kemp, North Brunswick: At Thursday’s Wallace Park Classic, Kemp placed fourth by crossing the finish line in 22:59.65.

GIRLS GOLF

Sierra Cardi, Hoggard: Earned a runner-up finish by shooting an 85 at The Country Club of Landfall on Tuesday in a Mideastern Conference match.

Grace Holcomb, Laney: The junior earned a 12-shot victory at Tuesday’s Mideastern Conference match at The Country Club of Landfall after shooting a 1-over-par 73. A day later, Holcomb shot a 74 to earn a sixth-place finish at the North State Challenge at Keith Hills Country Club in Buis Creek.

GIRLS TENNIS

Elena Berg, Hoggard: In Thursday’s 9-0 victory over Topsail, the freshman won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles and then teamed with Jenna Kyff for an 8-0 victory at No. 3 doubles.

Alexis Doran, Ashley: Opened the week with a 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 singles victory at No. 6 against New Hanover on Tuesday and then picked up a 6-3, 6-4 win against South Brunswick on Thursday.

Payton Drake, South Brunswick: Finished the week 3-0 at No. 3 singles and also went 2-1 in doubles with partner Rebekah Schuyler. She had straight-set singles wins over North Brunswick and Ashley and a three-set victory over Laney.

Evelyn Kent, Coastal Christian: Played a terrific match at No. 1 singles against rival Cape Fear Academy that ultimately ended up in a heartbreaking 9-8 defeat.

Margaret O’Malley, Hoggard: Freshman picked up a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles and earned an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles with partner Emily Cox to help the Vikings win 9-0 at North Brunswick on Tuesday.

VOLLEYBALL

Olivia Britt, Hoggard: Led the Vikings to three Mideastern Conference victories by putting down a team-best 20 kills while hitting .615.

Cassie Crisp, Coastal Christian: In Friday’s straight set victory over Wilmington Christian Academy, Crisp led the team with 10 blocks.

Blake Durham, West Brunswick: Continued to show her versatility by playing multiple positions throughout the week. The junior finished with nine aces in nine sets in contests against Whiteville, Topsail and New Hanover.

Ayla Johnson, Hoggard: Junior was great defensively with 22 digs in contests against South Brunswick, North Brunswick and Topsail. She also had 15 kills and five aces.

Kelly McConekey, Coastal Christian: Led the team with 39 kills and a hitting percentage of .484. She put down 18 kills to go along with 13 digs and seven aces against Arendell Parrott Academy on Wednesday.

Autumn Montague, Coastal Christian: Had 83 digs and served 14 aces in three victories.

Mallorie Moore, Coastal Christian: Put down a team-high nine kills and hit .538 to lead the Centurions to their first ever victory over Wilmington Christian Academy on Friday.

Danielle Rammrath, North Brunswick: Had 11 assists, 10 digs, five kills and one block in contests against Hoggard, New Hanover and Laney. She also made 25 of her 26 service attempts.

Jayda Rascoe, North Brunswick: In three conference matches, Rascoe had 40 digs. She finished with a season-high 28 in a four-set loss against Laney on Thursday.

Gracie Sistrunk, Hoggard: Put down 18 kills and added six aces and four blocks. She hit a remarkable .727 (18 kills on 22 attempts with two errors) in three matches.

Abby Tank, Hoggard: The senior libero had 30 digs and a pair of aces to lead the Vikings to three wins.

Mackenzie Turner, North Brunswick: Finished the week with 26 digs, 11 aces, seven kills and one assist. She had six aces in an eight-point run against Hoggard on Tuesday.

Anna Dudley Wetherill, Coastal Christian: Tied the school record with 20 kills in Wednesday’s five-set victory over Arendell Parrott Academy. Wetherill also had 21 digs and three blocks.

Kora Beth Witzenman, Coastal Christian: Dished out 107 assists (9.7 per set), including 49 in a five-set victory over  defending NCISAA 3 A state champion Arendell Parrott Academy.

Martin-Maine Wrangell, Hoggard: In straight set victories over South Brunswick, North Brunswick and Topsail, Wrangell finished with 18 kills, 11 digs and nine aces.
