2024 Girls Swimmer of the Year: Kelsey Stuck

Now that the winter sports season has come to a close, it’s time to reveal the All-Coastal Preps teams. Over the next few days, you will get to know more about the players of the year while also seeing who made first and second team in swimming & diving, wrestling and basketball.

For the second consecutive year, the Coastal Preps Girls Swimmer of the Year is junior Kelsey Stuck from Hoggard.

Kelsey’s Accomplishments

It was another stellar season for Kelsey Stuck, who was instrumental in guiding the Hoggard girls swimming & diving team to its eighth consecutive Mideastern Conference title. 

The Kentucky commit won all four events she competed in at the meet – 50 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay. The Vikings scored 342 points to defeat Ashley by 28.

Stuck had three victories and a second-place finish at the 4A East Regional to guide Hoggard to a third-place finish. 

She finished with the top three area times in both of her signature individual events – 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Stuck broke the New Hanover County record in the 100 backstroke with a time of 55.15 in the prelims at the NCHSAA 4A State Championship. 

Later that day, she finished seventh in the the state in both the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke. The junior anchored the 200 freestyle relay that placed eighth and swam the backstroke leg on the 200 medley relay that was ninth. 

Both relay teams broke New Hanover County records a week earlier at the 4A East Regional. The medley group finished in 1:46.13, while the freestyle team had a time of 1:36.73.
