2022 Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year: Luke Adams

Now that the fall sports season has come to a close, it’s time to reveal the All-Coastal Preps teams. Over the next week, you will get to know more about the players of the year while also seeing who made first and second team in girls golf, girls tennis, boys and girls cross country, volleyball, boys soccer and football.

The Coastal Preps Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year is junior Luke Adams from Hoggard.

Luke’s Accomplishments

Only one area cross country runner broke the 16-minute mark this season and that was Hoggard’s Luke Adams. 

The junior crossed the finish line in 15:59.22 at the 4A East Regional on October 29 to earn a fourth-place finish. Adams had three of area’s top-five fastest times and five of the top 18.

He opened the season with a 22-second victory and continued his strong running throughout the season. Adams captured the New Hanover County Championship and was the runner-up at the Mideastern Conference Championship.

A week after his strong performances at regionals, Adams was the top area finisher at the 4A State Championship. He placed 40th with a time of 16:39.11.
