The New Hanover County Middle School Roundup will be published each Sunday. Results and stats are compiled through emails from coaches and athletic directors. If you don’t see a result from your team, please encourage your coach or AD to start emailing them to tim@coastalpreps.com.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Murray 34, Holly Shelter 13

Caroline Meaney and Palyn Everhart combined to scored 31 points for the victorious Falcons.

Meaney led all scorers with 16 points, while Everhart chipped in 15. Murray’s (5-1) other three points were scored by Jairdin Boykin and Ari Marshall.

With the loss, Holly Shelter fell to 3-3.

Myrtle Grove 25, Trask 12

Adrianna Gomez scored six of her game-high eight points in the opening six minutes to help the Gators secure their first win of the season.

Myrtle Grove (1-5) led 8-4 after the first quarter and 17-4 at halftime. Mary Grace Utley chipped in seven points. 

Abigail Wilkins paced Trask (0-6) with four points.

Murray 28, Trask 19

The Falcons closed the game on a 15-8 run to pull away and avoid an upset at home.

Palyn Everhart finished with 10 points to lead the way for Murray (6-1), which held an 11-4 halftime lead. Caroline Meaney added nine points, while Leah Bradley scored six.

Trask (0-7) opened the second half on a 7-2 run to cut the deficit to 13-11, but they couldn’t get any closer.

Roland-Grise 41, Noble 5

All 15 Knights scored in the dominant victory that kept them a game ahead of Murray in the standings. 

Ella Jones scored all six of her points in the first half. Phoebe Asoegwu and Jakicey Gardner each chipped in five for Roland-Grise (7-0), which led 17-1 after the opening six minutes and 25-1 at halftime. 

Noble (2-5) got two points a piece from Lucy Durkin and Charlie Vogt.

Holly Shelter 21, Myrtle Grove 11

Sofia Clayton and Halle Dickerson each made a 3-pointer and finished with five points, and the Hurricanes outscored the Gators 9-2 in the fourth quarter to pick up the win.

Holly Shelter (4-3), which held a slim 10-7 halftime lead, also got four points a piece from Caroline Borum and Melanie Gomez.

Adrianna Gomez’s five points led Myrtle Grove (1-6).

Goalkeeper Joe Dubaj recorded 12 saves for the Tigers in the hard-fought road win.

Darikson Chavez scored twice for Williston (3-3). The other goal was scored by Benji Hanson. 

Noble fell to 1-4-1.

Holly Shelter 2, Murray 1

The Hurricanes picked up their fourth straight victory.

No individual stats were provided for Holly Shelter (5-1).  

Murray’s (0-5-1) goal was scored by Karter Krowl.

Trask 1, Myrtle Grove 0

Kilby Theiss-Dixon scored the game’s only goal to give the Bears a home win.

Trask improved to 4-2, while Myrtle Grove slipped to 1-5.

Kellen Krowl and Tyler Salvati each found the back of the net to lead the Falcons to their first victory of the season.

Murray (1-5-1) goalkeeper Garrett McLeod earned the clean sheet.

Trask is now 4-3 on the season.
