Now that the spring sports season has come to a close, it’s time to reveal the All-Coastal Preps teams. Over the next week, you will get to know more about the players of the year while also seeing who made first and second team in boys tennis, boys and girls track & field, boys and girls lacrosse, boys golf, girls soccer, softball and baseball.
The Coastal Preps Boys Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Year is senior Trey Parkes from Hoggard.
Trey’s Accomplishments
The Hoggard boys lacrosse team had one of the best seasons in program history by finishing 20-1 and reaching the fourth round of the NCHSAA 4A playoffs.
One of the major reasons for the success was the play of senior midfielder Trey Parkes, who finished with 36 goals, 33 assists and 51 ground balls in 19 games.
The Vikings outscored their opponents 348-73 and won 16 contests by 10 or more goals.
Parkes was often matched up against the opposing team’s best defender, so even when he wasn’t scoring he was still impacting the game by allowing his teammates to exploit favorable matchups.
The Hofstra signee scored three or more goals on eight occasions. He finished with a season-high eight points in a 21-2 victory over Topsail on April 14.
