With the fall high school sports season coming to a close, it’s time to reveal the All-Coastal Preps teams. Over the next week, you will get to know more about the players of the year while also seeing who made first and second team in girls tennis, girls golf, boys cross country, girls cross country, boys soccer and volleyball. Football will be published shortly after the conclusion of the season.
The Coastal Preps Boys Soccer Offensive Player of the Year is senior Nick Bennett from Laney.
Nick’s Accomplishments
Laney’s Nick Bennett saved his best for last, finishing his senior year with a Mideastern Conference leading 26 goals to go along with eight assists.
Bennett was especially impressive against the other three Wilmington public schools, as he scored nine goals and dished out a pair of assists in contests against Ashley, Hoggard and New Hanover.
On seven occasions during the season Bennett scored multiple goals. He had a hat trick five times, including all three goals in a 3-2 victory over Ashley in his final home contest.
