Now that the winter sports season has come to a close, it’s time to reveal the All-Coastal Preps teams. Over the next week, you will get to know more about the players of the year while also seeing who made first and second team in boys and girls basketball, boys and girls swimming and wrestling.

One of the Coastal Preps Wrestlers of the Year is senior Devon Bell from Laney.

Devon’s Accomplishments

Devon Bell capped his dominant season season with a perfect 42-0 record that culminated in a 4A state title at 182 pounds.

The Campbell signee finished the season with 28 pins, two tech falls, two major decisions and one decision. He also received nine forfeits.

At the individual state championship, Bell had three first period pins and a 15-4 major decision in the semifinals. He needed only 1:07 to pin Gavin Hartsell of A.L. Brown in the finals. 

The results gave Laney 29 points and helped them win a second consecutive team title.

Two weeks earlier, Bell was instrumental in leading the Buccaneers to their first dual team state championship. He went 5-0 with four pins and one forfeit during the playoff run.
