Now that the winter sports season has come to a close, it’s time to reveal the All-Coastal Preps teams. Over the next few days, you will get to know more about the players of the year while also seeing who made first and second team in swimming & diving, wrestling and basketball.

The Coastal Preps Girls Co-Wrestler of the Year is senior Lily Prendergast from South Brunswick

Lily’s Accomplishments

Lily Prendergast capped a stellar career with a solid 2-0 victory over rival and friend Anna Ockerman of Corinth Holders to claim the first-ever 100-pound NCHSAA girls wrestling state title.

It was the third meeting of the season between the two, with Prendergast winning 6-2 on Dec. 30 and Ockerman getting revenge with a 4-1 decision at the East Regional.

The only points of the championship match came on a reversal from Prendergast in the second period. The Mount Olive signee rode out Ockerman for the entire third period to cement the win.

Prendergast joined Terrell Hobbs (2004) and John Wiley (2012) as the only wrestling state champions in school history.

She finished her senior season with an incredible record of 53-1, which included 36 pins and 11 forfeits.

I have a lucky shirt that has a small hole in the sleeve that started out as my practice shirt but I continued to somehow get it every year and I don’t compete without it now.
