Now that the fall sports season has come to a close, it’s time to reveal the All-Coastal Preps teams. Over the next week, you will get to know more about the players of the year while also seeing who made first and second team in girls golf, girls tennis, boys and girls cross country, volleyball, boys soccer and football.

The Coastal Preps Boys Soccer Co-Player of the Year is senior Alex Walker from Laney.

Alex’s Accomplishments

After taking a year off from high school soccer, Alex Walker returned to the pitch and helped Laney achieve milestones it hadn’t achieved in several years.

The talented senior forward set a new school record for goals in a season with 37 in 25 matches. He also had 26 assists for 100 points.  

Walker put home at least two goals in 12 matches. He recorded four hat tricks, including an outstanding three-goal performance over rival Hoggard at home.

Laney finished the season 21-3-1 overall and 12-2 in the Mideastern Conference. The Buccaneers reached the fourth round of the 4A playoffs for the first time since 2015.

Favorite memory from your career: Breaking the Laney career and single season goal and assist record.

Favorite thing about your school or team: Playing for a school I have attend all four years with most of my best friends.

Do you have any superstitions or pre-game rituals? If so, what are they?: I don’t warm up for more than 30 minutes before any game.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?: I would go to Cape Town, South Africa as it’s a beautiful place with a different culture.

If you could switch places with any person (real or fictional) for a day who would it be?: Stone Murrill when Hoggard played Laney at Hoggard.

Are you a morning or night person?: Night Person

What is something you could eat for a week straight?: Dominos Pizza

What is your favorite milkshake flavor from Cook Out?: Cookies and Cream

What app on your phone do you use the most?: Snapchat

What is one hidden talent you have that most people don’t know about?: I’m a very good cook.

What 3 items would you bring with you to a deserted island?: A lighter, fishing rod, and a spear.
