Now that the fall sports season has come to a close, it’s time to reveal the All-Coastal Preps teams. Over the next week, you will get to know more about the players of the year while also seeing who made first and second team in girls golf, girls tennis, boys and girls cross country, volleyball, boys soccer and football.
The Coastal Preps Boys Soccer Co-Player of the Year is senior Stone Murrill from Hoggard.
Stone’s Accomplishments
The Hoggard boys soccer team had one of its most successful seasons ever thanks in large part to the play of forward Stone Murrill.
Murrill led the area with in goals with 46 in 25 matches. He also dished out 17 assists to finish with an area-best 109 points.
The senior found the back of the net at least twice in 16 matches, including scoring a season-high four goals on two occasions. He was at his best against rivals Ashley, New Hanover and Laney – finding the back of the net nine times and adding five assists in those six matches.
The Vikings set a school record for wins in a season by finishing 23-2-1 overall. They claimed the Mideastern Conference title and reached the fourth round of the 4A playoffs before falling to eventual state champion Cardinal Gibbons.
