Now that the winter sports season has come to a close, it’s time to reveal the All-Coastal Preps teams. Over the next few days, you will get to know more about the players of the year while also seeing who made first and second team in swimming & diving, wrestling and basketball.

The Coastal Preps Girls Co-Basketball Player of the Year is sophomore guard Tristan Shivers from Hoggard.

Tristan’s Accomplishments

It was supposed to be a rebuilding season at Hoggard, but someone forgot to tell sophomore point guard Tristan Shivers.

The Vikings graduated all five starters from the 2022-23 team that went 26-3, but a new crop of stars emerged. That group was led by Shivers, who averaged 13.9 points, 7.8 assists, 3.2 steals and 2.7 rebounds.

Hoggard went a perfect 14-0 in Mideastern Conference play for a third consecutive year and then cruised to the tournament title by outscoring its three opponents 162-44.

A magical postseason run took the Vikings all the way to the 4A East final for the first time since 2015. They finished 30-2 and set the program record for wins in a season.

Shivers reached double figures in all but six games, including a career-high 23 points on two occasions. She also recorded seven double-doubles.
