Now that the winter sports season has come to a close, it’s time to reveal the All-Coastal Preps teams. Over the past few days, you’ve gotten to know more about the players of the year while also seeing who made first and second team in swimming & diving, wrestling and basketball.

For the second consecutive year, the Coastal Preps Boys Co-Basketball Player of the Year is junior guard Rodmik Allen from New Hanover.

Rodmik’s Accomplishments

Like he’s done for his entire career, Rodmik Allen came up clutch time and time again for the New Hanover boys basketball team.

The Wildcats set a school record for wins in a season by going 32-1 and reaching the NCHSAA 4A state championship game for the first time since 2012.

Allen averaged 17.5 points, 4.5 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 2.6 steals. He also shot 44.3 percent from the field (206 of 465) and 33.1 percent from 3-point range (42 of 127).

His constant defensive pressure over 32 minutes created havoc and often led to big runs for the Wildcats. Allen reached double figures in all but two games, including a season-high 24 points in back-to-back games in January.

He connected on the game-winning free throws with 1:10 remaining in a hard-fought 55-53 victory over Richmond County in the 4A East final.

For his career, Allen has a remarkable record of 82-5. He’s unbeaten in Mideastern Conference play (42-0 in regular season games and 9-0 in tournament games).
