Now that the spring sports season has come to a close, it’s time to reveal the All-Coastal Preps teams. Over the next week, you will get to know more about the players of the year while also seeing who made first and second team in boys tennis, boys and girls track & field, boys and girls lacrosse, boys golf, girls soccer, softball and baseball.

The Coastal Preps Softball Pitcher of the Year is sophomore Kennedy Sloan from Topsail.

Kennedy’s Accomplishments

In her first season as a member of the Topsail softball team, Sloan made an immediate impact and helped the team claim its second Mideastern Conference title in four years.

Sloan finished 16-4 with a 1.57 ERA and 94 strikeouts in 125 innings. Opponents hit just .194 against her.

From March 22 through April 5, Sloan pitched five consecutive shutouts. She finished with a season-high 11 strikeouts in a 4-0 victory over North Brunswick.

Sloan also had a great season at the plate by hitting .443 with 19 RBIs. She had nine multi-hit games.

Topsail finished the season 17-5 overall and 11-1 in the MEC. They advanced to the second round of the NCHSAA 4A playoffs.
