Now that the fall sports season has come to a close, it’s time to reveal the All-Coastal Preps teams. Over the next week, you will get to know more about the players of the year while also seeing who made first and second team in girls golf, girls tennis, boys and girls cross country, volleyball, boys soccer and football.

The Coastal Preps Volleyball Player of the Year is senior Annalyse Askew from Ashley.

Annalyse’s Accomplishments

In her final high season, Annalyse Askew set new season highs every major statistical category to lead Ashley to the Mideastern Conference regular season and tournament titles.

She put down 311 kills and hit .231 in 97 sets. Askew served 74 aces and won 212 service points with her terrific topspin jump serve. The outside hitter also proved to be one of the area’s top defensive players, finishing with 254 digs and 30 blocks.

Askew, who has already signed with Arizona State for beach volleyball, had eight double-doubles and recorded 10 or more kills in 19 matches.

She was instrumental in helping the Screaming Eagles finish 22-8 overall and 12-2 in the MEC. They reached the third round of the 4A playoffs and nearly knocked off eventual state champion Millbrook, but suffered a heartbreaking 16-14 loss in the fifth and deciding set.

In three postseason matches, Askew averaged 16 kills and 13 digs.

Her older sister, Julianna (now a setter at ECU), was the Coastal Preps Player of the Year in 2018.
